THE BAJA HA-HA CELEBRATES CRUISING
EVERYWHERE IN MEXICO
La Paz is justifiably proud of its sunsets, but don't count Zihua out.
Unlike at La Paz, where the sun drops into the distant hills, at Zihua the sun sets right behind the anchored boats into the ocean.
Zihua is located 1,400 miles southeast of San Diego and 700 miles southeast of Cabo. Not all cruisers are willing to go that far south, but those who do are rewarded.
Located at 17.6 on the Contented Coast, Zihua is down where it never gets cold.
In fact, it's often hot. Damn hot.
I can remember being anchored there with Profligate in late January and early February, and having to get up repeatedly in the middle of the night to jump into the water to cool off.
We'd quickly plop our warm bodies back in the bunk, turn fans on them, and hope to stay cool long enough to fall asleep.
We'd usually have to do this three or four times before we were successful.
Z-town may be at the bottom of the alphabetical list, but it's near or at the top of the list of favorite spots with many cruisers.
